I have just had the last message from ilovegreentea.

It read "Thank you for welcoming me to EP. You have been like a father figure to me"

All because she was disappointed by someone she used to look up to.

It sure as hell wasn't me.

I first heard this song a few tears ago while transferring some music to a young girls MP3 player.

She sang it word for word with so much emotion even if a little off key. It got to me. When she finished I asked "Who are you singing about?" thinking of a young boy that may have done her wrong.

I was shocked when she said "My Dad" 

Fortunately she has learnt to escape his cruel behaviour.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,

Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.

Made up my mind to make a new start,

Going to california with an aching in my heart.

Someone told me theres a girl out there

With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.

Took my chances on a big jet plane,

Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

The sea was red and the sky was grey,

Wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.

The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake

Seems that the wrath of the gods

Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;

I know it's Mothers Day, and although my daughters mother is no longer a major part of my life I do owe her for my daughter and son.

This says much about a new parents joy with the arrival of their first born child. Mothers of the world (Fathers too) enjoy.

One of my favourite bands of all time sums up much of my life's ambitions in this great piece of music. The words mean a lot to me, questioning why things happen, and picking up those falling on the wayside. Sing along if you wish.
